2008 Youth Regionals

Great news from Rockford. Michael Farmer has been selected to represent Region II as a referee in the National Championships. Michael will be joined by Brian Miller who was selected to return to the National Championships as a referee based on his performance at the Nationals last year. Out of the ten referees from Region II going to Nationals, Ohio North will have two.

Sal Saia was also selected as one of the four Assistant Referees that will represent Region II.

Kudos to Josh Sherman and Ryan Slack for a great performance. They both were on the short list for selection as AR to Nationals. I understand that all of our referees performed well and solidified the reputation Ohio North has gained in Region II.

I think that this is even more impressive when you consider that three of our top prospects, Adam Becker, Joe Kuzma and John Aldea were not able to attend Regionals this year.

Please congratulate the young men when you see them.

2009 State Referee Recertification Clinic and Upgrade Clinic

Ladies and Gentlemen,

This is a gentle reminder about the State Referee Recertification Clinic to be held on Saturday August 9th at the Tri-C West Campus in Parma.

The Fitness Testing will be held on the track at 10:00 AM on the York Road side of the building.

The classroom clinic will be held in Room A-223 at 11:30 AM. The written test will be given at this clinic. All State Referee Grades (5/6 - 15/16) are required to take, and pass, the written examination to Recertify for the next year.

US Soccer will be mailing out the information about Recertification of all Referees on August 1, 2008. It is quite likely you will have the letter by the time we have the clinic. You may want to bring that letter along so you can ask any questions about Referee Recertification for 2009.

NOTE: A clinic for upgrade to Referee Grade 7 will be held at Tri-C West on August 9th and 10th. Candidates will participate in the Fitness Test with the State Referees and then proceed to a separate room for classroom clinic work for the balance of Saturday and then come back for the conclusion of the clinic all day Sunday.
